Ho...Ho...Ho...liday Give-a-Way

Most of you know about the Ho...Ho...Ho...liday traditions of my family. They have already begun in my family and today they are beginning at Grandma's Little Pearls! I am filled with holiday cheer as I sit at my computer wearing my bright red Christmas shirt with Jolly ol' Santa and the words Ho...Ho...Ho.. embroidered on the front and red sequined holly berry bling on Santa's hat.  I know what you are thinking and you are absolutely right. My shirt is as cute as it can be!

If this is your first visit to Grandma's Little Pearls please stay a while and feel free to snoop through my many, many posts!

Today I am going to spread a little holiday cheer here at Grandma's Little Pearls with a Ho...Ho...Ho...liday book review and my very first holiday give-a-way for 2010.

Scholastic Books recently sent me two books from their new holiday collection. They are titled
It's Christmas David and Captain Sky Blue. Both of the books are delightful reads and illustrated beautifully.

It's Christmas David is a fun book for kids and a good reminder to adults on just how many times the word no and other parental commands are heard by the little ones we love through the holiday season. It is a very sweet story that every child and adult are sure to have experienced in their own lives.

About the Book
Readers of all ages will vividly remember trying to peek at hidden gift packages; writing scrolls of wish lists to Santa; and struggling to behave at formal Christmas dinner parties. Always in the background, we know Santa Claus is watching, soon to decide if David deserves a shiny new fire truck or a lump of coal under the tree. From playing with delicate ornaments to standing in an endlessly long line for Santa, here are common Christmas activities--but with David's naughty trimmings. A surefire hit that is destined to be an annual classic!

Captain Sky Blue is an adventurous tale with a heartwarming ending. Children will love learning pilot talk in the book. Bravo Zulu  (high praise for a job well done) to Richard Egielski. I am spooled up (excited) to share this book with my grands. So, if you are putting out a mayday (a cry for help) for holiday gift ideas this season. Check out the Scholastic Books website for these and other wonderfully written and illustrated books for the children you love. Roger (I hear you) that?  Roger Wilco (I will do it) and out!

About the Book
Jack's best toy pal is Captain Sky Blue, a pilot. Sky speaks in Pilot Talk ("Roger! Wilco!").
After a thunderstorm separates Sky and his buddy ("Mayday!"), Sky is abducted by a whale, then left alone to wander a frigid ocean floor until he chances upon a very special place, a place where he's been before ("Now I'm spooled up!").
Captain Sky Blue thinks he has finally found an easy way home, but first he must face a desperate situation?a challenge that puts his pilot skills to the test!

Oh wait !!!!

Haha I love your blog, Shelley, you have inspired me a bunch! Thank you for the give a way, very fun.

If your folks want to try their luck at mine, it's part of the "Gift Ideas/Giveaways" section of the Grandma's Briefs Holiday Guide, http://www.grandmasbriefs.com/holiday-guide.

    Good luck!
