A Grand Celebration

My third oldest grandchild just turned eight years old. She is the first among three of my grands who will be turning eight this year. It was really fun the year I got a new grand baby every three months. It continues to be so much fun as I watch them grow up together.

This is how I helped to celebrate the occasion!

It is a tradition to give my grandchildren a set of scriptures
and a scripture tote for their eighth birthdays.

I sewed her up a custom scripture tote.

and a matching book mark.

The tote began with a store bought placemat.
I added handles, a tie shut, and a handmade fabric flower.

Her baptism was the next day.

It is a baptism day tradition to give my grandchildren
a keepsake box for their baptism momentos.

I always began with a white photo storage box.
On this one I added eyelet lace trim and a
flowered and lace/velcro band as a box closure.

I made the flower using three different widths of white eyelet lace.

Following the baptism I helped her mom put on
a luncheon for the very special occasion.

The table centerpieces were fresh flowers in large canning
jar vases tied with a ribbon.
A different framed picture of the guest of honor
was also placed on each table.

It was a great day with family and friends.
My granddaughter had never looked more beautiful.

She is a precious daughter of God that I am
very blessed and honored to call my granddaughter.
